CVS 101

My first advice is to get a CVS card! You can go to www.cvs.com and get a card, but your best bet is to go to the store and register it right there with the cashier, that way you can right away go scan your card for the awesome CVS Q’s your going to receive!!
First I’ll start with lingo! These are abbreviations I will use very frequently!
Q’s=coupons
OOP=out of pocket
SS=smartsource newspaper insert
RP=redplum
ECB=Extra Care Bucks (CVS Money)
CVS Q=coupons that come out of the red machine when you walk into CVS and scan your card
RC=RainChecks
So, first thing you should do after getting your card, is go get the CVS app or go to www.cvs.com and register your card. Make sure your address is entered, your email address, and your card number is correct! CVS mails coupons randomly when your address is listed and sends emails to random people every Thursday! Everybody doesn’t get the same coupon either. Some may get a 25% off or a 30% off (which can only be used on full price items. Non sale items, but can be full price items that produce ECB’s) or maybe a $4.00/$20.00 purchase. Or even $10.00/$50.00 that prints at the end of your receipt! They even send you a $4.00/$20.00 for registering your email! And if you ever forget your card, you can now use your phone number so make sure you have that registered.
Also, while your there, make sure to sign up for

The Beauty Club. For every $50.00 you spend on beauty products you receive a $5.00 ECB! Here is the list of categories that are considered to be Beauty Products: Cosmetics, Skin Care, Hair Care, Fragrances, Hair Color, Hair Appliances, Hair Accessories, and Healthy Skin Care. Excludes items from Beauty 360, items from Trial & Travel, gift cards and prescriptions. The $50.00 you have to spend is before coupons, which means once you hit $50.00 before you use any coupons, so you could do it in one transaction if you wanted to. Your $5.00 Beauty Reward will print from the CVS Redbox about 48 hours after you reach $50.00. Your card will track your totals, so you don’t have to do it in 1 transaction.

Pharmacy Rewards. Sing up for this online. If you regularly get your prescriptions filled at CVS make sure you sing up every single person in your house on your card so they count too! So for every 10 prescriptions you fill at CVS you get a $5.00 ECB!

The next reward CVS offers is CVS gives you back 2% of your SPENDING every 3 months. What this means is this tracks your spending AFTER coupons! Whatever your OOP Is!! These rewards are available for printing out of the RedBox January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st! This is an AWESOME reward that no other store offers!! Which is why CVS is my FAVORITE store!!
You should scan your card at the CVS RedBox Machine everyday if possible and you should scan it multiple times until it says No More Coupons!

Ok. So actually ECB’s are the BEST rewards CVS offers!! ECB’s can be used pretty much on everything in the store but tobacco, stamps, lotto, prescriptions etc… It says on the ECB but so I give beginner transactions to get you started, but once you start accumulating ECB’s, you can start “rolling your ECB’s, meaning only buying things with ECB’s, that give you ECB’s back! In Michigan, you will always pay tax, because we are taxed before coupons, then your coupons come off, then your whole tax comes down in to your total. In most states, they are taxed after coupons, meaning they get there total, then coupons come off, then they are taxed on their remaining total.
CVS does not have a limit to coupons used, but you must read the coupon and go by their rules too. For instance, the P&G coupons have a limit of 4 coupons per a transaction, so do a second transaction. You can you use ECB’s on your 2nd transaction too. CVS deals most times have a limit per card and will say it right on the Ad. Like limit 1 or limit 6 that is per card not per transaction!
CVS sometimes has CVS store coupons on their website. They can be used WITH a manufacture Q so if your buying 1 pack of Huggies and you have a manufacture Q and a CVS Printable store Q you can use them both on the one product!
Let me explain their BOGO sales:
If the sale is BOGO buy (2) pay for (1)
Q’s can be used on both products.
If the sale is BOGO and you have a BOGO Q buy (2) BOTH ARE FREE with Q one is free from the sale and one is free from the coupon.
If the sale is BOGO and you have a B2G1 Q buy (6) use (2) Q’s and 5 are FREE and just pay for 1. (3) will ring up at $x.xx (the price) and (3) will ring up at $0.00 your (2) Q’s will take off (2) $x.xx (the price) leaving only (1) to pay for!!
If the sale is B2G1 you buy (3), get (1) free pay for (2) but you can use Q’s on all (3)
If the sale is B2G1 and you have a B2G1Q buy in 3’s pay for (1) (2) are Free! (1) is free from the sale, and 1 is free from the Q. Make sure to buy in (3)’s.

The last thing I want to talk about is RainChecks!! CVS is the BEST store for RC’s!! They NEVER expire! They will issue you a RC for anything they don’t have in stock!! ALWAYS ask for a RC if they don’t have it in stock!!!
Thank you for reading!!
